A message from Karen Testa, Executive Director of Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons:

“Sometimes,” said Pooh, “the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

It is 7 a.m. on an early spring morning. As you wake up with coffee in the comforting sunlight, turtles are on the move to find warm places to bask after a cool night. Some move farther afield to find sandy spots to nest and lay eggs. As they do so, they must cross busy roads, backyards, and other obstacles while also avoiding natural and man-made predators. Some turtles on this morning journey will be injured – their shells cracked by cars or other vehicles, by lawnmowers, or by boat propellers, their faces or limbs lacerated – and without proper care, many will die.

When you make a contribution to Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons, Inc., you make it possible for TROTH to rescue injured turtles and to provide expert medical attention so that these animals can heal from their wounds. Our care includes long periods of rehabilitation and physical therapy in Turtle Manor’s incubators, protected ponds, greenhouses, and streams that replicate the turtles’ natural habitat, in the hope that eventually they can be returned to the wild. You also make it possible for TRH to care for animals that are too badly injured to survive in the wild and who must stay at Turtle Manor for their lifetime.

Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons is on call 24/7, and it is our goal to never have to turn away an injured animal. Please help us to help these enduring creatures – turtle species have been in existence for more than 220 million years – with a tax-deductible contribution of any size, or to sponsor a turtle.

Contributions support skilled wildlife rehabilitation staff, habitat creation and maintenance, medical instruments and supplies, medications, food, and property maintenance and repairs. Our charming 1920′s farmhouse facility was generously donated to us by a local businessman.
